Farepak - One year On
This week we were reminded of the collapse of the Christmas savings scheme Farepak. The administrators are likely to offer people 5p for every £1 they had saved, a miniscule amount. All
MPs were asked to make a donation to the fund. Unfortunately, unlike Northern Rock, the bank of England never stepped in to guarantee people's money. Stepehen Williams reply was "To the
best of my knowledge none of my constituencts are affected by this, so on this basis no".
Clearly Stephen is not on the caring, compassionate side of the Party. However, he also took the opportunity to complain about his below inflation MP pay "Also we didn't get a pay rise, we
got a pay cut". This shows the extent to which he is driven by narrow self interest.
Labour continues to promote credit unions. The one in Bristol is going from strength to strength and if you are interested in an ethical community owned alternative to your finances check
them out at http://www.bristolcreditunion.org
